| And so it begins....For 2004, I tried to do a swamp/forest theme in my formal dining room. I've put together a little how-to of the madness of covering the walls. Click on the pictures for larger views. |

I took some fabric I bought at Wal-Mart and cut it into strips about 8 feet long and 2-3 inches in width and made sure they were kind of wavy and irregular.

I sewed one end of each strip into a loop. Perfection is NOT what I am aiming for here; remember, darkness is our friend! |

I bought some 4-foot wooden dowels, the 7/8 inch ones, I drilled pilot holes in the ends of each one, making sure they were even on both sides. |
| I attached small cup hooks to each end of the dowels in the pilot holes. |

I marked off the ceiling and installed white drywall anchors for the eyehooks. I chose these because I plan on using them again next year, and they are barely visible when the eyehooks are not in them.

In goes the eyehook. These can be removed
when the season is over. |

Next I added the fabric to the dowel, alternating colors as I go. |

All that's left is to even and straighten out the fabric so that it covers the dowel evenly |
Not the best picture, but you get the idea. Once the foliage went in, it looked really cool. I also got a new dark chandelier, which looked much better than the shiny brass one. |
