What's going on at the Dead End in 2014......

Let's PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wasn't going to bother with having a party this year, since my 2-job work schedule is just too much and my bank account is too little, but I had so much interest in this year's mischief, that I had to change my mind. The party is on! Set up is under way, with Tom's help, and hopefully we can get most of it done in time. I gave myself an extra week by scheduling it for the day after Halloween, but it will still be a tight finish to get it all ready. I wish I could say that I was really looking forward to it, but I am waffling back and forth with mixed feelings. Some days I just want to cancel it all and just focus on the ard display. Then some days, like today, I look around and can't wait for my house to be transformed in the fun Halloween filled home that I love. In any case, the show WILL go on!

For those coming to the party:

If you're coming, I need to know your last name. We live in a gated community and they don't like "open invites". The name you need to give for our house at the gate is HURLBERT. I'll make sure to let the security guys know some will inevitably ask for Martin. :-)

ADULTS ONLY!!!!

NO Children under 18, there will most likely be some naughty costumes/behavior, and we don't need the kidlets seeing that.

BYOB

I don't have the funds for the al-kee-hawl this year.

Costumes are kind of the point of a costume party, but not mandatory. I do have a costume and accessories bin here that you can raid if you want to.

If you can, please bring a finger food or tasty treat to share. I don't have the time to do a lot of the stuff I normally do, so the food will need some help.

Thanks everyone, and we look forward to seeing you!

10/22/2014--PARTY CANCELED

Well. this image WAS the front side to our party invitation for this year. Imagine it on a tan cardstock "ticket". I decided that it's just too much for me this year to go on with the party, so I just canceled it. I'm going through something right now, depression I guess, it feels like before. I can't get excited about the party, I just feel overwhelmed when I look around at all the boxes of stuff, and at the gossamer that my cats keep ripping down off the walls, and I just don't want to even touch any of it. I am having back pain again, and my arm and hand has really been bothering me when I try to get sleep. I do have time now, however, to put into my yard display and get it done properly. Lots to fix and set up still outside, and it's all for the kids on Halloween - the main reason for any of this at all. I said I needed a break this year, and bad mojo is forcing me to take one.

THANK YOU!!!! -to everyone who sent me emails recently, with encouraging words and kind thoughts. You all really made me feel better and give me a reason to keep on trucking.

What? An update??? Indeed it is! We ended up having the party last year, and I'd say it was a success. Everyone pitched in, and we pulled off a pretty good time. Pics can be found on the link titled 2013 on the navigation pane to the left. the invitations were a hit, and were pretty similar to the previous year's, but a bit more sturdy. Instructions should be up for those soon.

I haven't had much time for anything other than work however, so I am not sure if a party will be possible this year. But, like I said last year, who knows what will happen. We lost a few props due to storage damage, so some serioous fixing will have to happen for the display. The crypt is pretty much ruined, so I will either have to rebuild or scrap it all. Got lots of ideas for new things, just not enough to time start anything.

And what went on in 2013

8/26/13

It's been a really tight year so far, and nothing Halloween has been worked on yet.  I've been working two full-time jobs since April, so I've only had time to sleep and get ready for the next work shift.  I just recently cut my hours  back so my back could heal, which should give me time to plan and execute a new prop or two, and Tom wants to help me work on stuff, so I'm excited about that.  I have an idea or two for a fun little thing to try out in my etsy store, and I'm hoping to get that rolling here as soon as I get the concept completed.   Since I keep most of my bigger props in the house or in the garage, Peter Peter Trick-or-Treater Eater has taken a slight beating from the kitties climbing all over him.  I believe his body will have to undergo some surgery as he's almost falling onto the ground now.  At this time, I've also decided to forego the party this year due to lack of funds and time, and just focus on the yard display - but who knows?  It's changed before and last minute I've decided that the show must go on, so we'll see what the next month brings.
