What's going on at the Dead End in 2010......

Updated 12/15/2010

Well, another year has pretty much come and gone.  It's been a slow year as far as Halloween goes here at the Dead End.  We did manage to pull off a party this year that turned out pretty doggone good.  Pictures coming soon - party pics are already up.  Check the links on the left in the navigation pane for 2010.

Hope everyone has had a good year and that 2011 brings good things for you, your families, and friends.

Merry Christmas!

I've been fairly productive here at the Dead End lately. Got a lot of "Spring" cleaning done, both inside the house and outside - especially  in the garage.  I got all of Andy's stuff packed up, and he picked it all up last week, so now I have TONS of room in the attic and garage, which I used to reorganize my Halloween stuff and tools.  I'm really stoked about being able to move around in the garage now, it really did a lot for my haunt motivation to have all the clutter gone. Now the Halloween prop workshop is ready for some prop-making goodness!

I have a new prop in mind for this year's display that includes a new pumpkin head like the old one... only with a body this time. I'm also really excited to have Tom interested in and planning his own props.  It's so awesome to have someone who wants to be by my side in the whole process, not just basking in the accolades when it's all out there for the "muggles" to see.

I added a couple of new pages to the site.  Finally got the official 2009 photos up on their respective pages, such as they are.  Not many there, but at least there's SOMETHING up for that year.  I also added a couple of pages to the projects list: Hanging Bats   and Scrap Styrofoam JOL.  Just a couple of simple things we did last year, nothing spectacular, and nothing anyone really saw.  The JOL isn't even finished still, but I did document the process and someone might find it useful.  :)

I'd like to throw in a little shout out to Anti-Sally at Goth Rosary for making some really awesome scented goodies.  I got another order in the mail the other day, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Fairy Wings scent.  Well... I love all the scents, very unique and perfect for haunters and Halloween lovers.  Good stuff there!

There are also discussion threads on the forum about the event, and possible meeting places; so if you're a Florida Haunter who's lucky enough to be going to HAuNTcon, check it out and meet your fellow Florida Haunters!

Unfortunately, I don't think I will be going due to a lot of reasons, mainly work and lack of funds... but I encourage everyone to go if you can, especially our Florida Haunters since it's right in our back yard this year.  Slots are filling up for the make and takes and demos, so check out the site and the schedules for details.

Aside from that, I really have no news to report from the Dead End.  Not much has been going on in the way of Halloween prep here yet since I've been trying to catch up on housekeeping and  yard work.  Gotta love Spring cleaning!

Happy New Year everyone!  The past 4 months have flown by and now the build season is coming up fast.  2010 brings with it some changes here at the Dead End, most of them happening in my personal life - some bad (divorce), some good (new love) - but I'm optimistic about the haunt this year.  I know it won't bear any huge changes, but there will be some upgrades and a few new props here and there.  I have a long laundry list of things that need to be fixed and/or improved, and a few things that need complete revamps.  My incredibly supportive man has a prop in his mind (skull throne) and I'm really stoked to have someone who wants to be a part of my crazy obsession.  It helps too, that he is creative and artistic.  :-)  I JUST got all the crypt pieces put up into the attic last week - and managed to break a few more pieces of the foam that is the outer façade of it.  That led me to decide to give it a fresh new look, but that will be a project for 2011.  I'm taking a break from fooling with the crypt this year as it's a hassle to deal with.  Helena may see a new set-up and location though, so we'll see.  Since I won't be hosting a party this year, and subsequently won't need to decorate inside the house, I will be concentrating solely on the front yard display and making sure everything is fixed and looking the way it should.  I'm looking forward to having a much less stressful Halloween this season and a lot more fun working on it.
